Off the IMG goes, surfing the internet to gather info, reading horror stories about the difficulty of getting a residency spot..but still he persevers...he finds out programs ask for 80+ on both scores with graduation dates of less than five years preferred..but still he perseveres....and that only j1 visas
are available..but still
he perseveres....
With only his medical credentials and will to succeed he flies off to the US of A in search of that residency spot!!
After mailling all the
applications to hospital
programs he waits....through ERAS
He recieved several offers to interview while in the USA..having gone through ERAS..
ERAS costs a LOT OF MONEY !!!!
But at least he got interviews!!!!..
off he goest again to the hospital programs to meet with the program directors....he is determined to
persevere
But he forgets he still has to take the "clinical skills assessment"!!!
Gotta Study Again! or else he won't get his H-1 Visa! but his mind is set he will pesevere.
Despite the CSA costing 1200 dollars,
he managaes to pass it. and continues on to the interviews!!.(with his worn suit...going to program every program.
He finds out, that getting a visa is again going to be tough (another obstacle), during the interview he is usually asked "clinical experience" and "visa status" aspects....which are both against his application, but
still he ....perseveres..
And now having finished all his inter-
views, he has another idea, while
waiting for the match results he needs
to go on an "observership/externship
search, since most hospitals usually
ask for clinical experience in the USA
He is given an observership slot by a
kind program director, He considers
himself LUCKY! (Bear in mind this is
an UNPAID voluntary position with no
real responsibilities!) but he perse
veres.
He now stressfuly awaits for the results of the so called "Match".
