During the scramble you can apply to other programs aside from the ones you applied to, using ERAS to transmit your documents to the programs, for 1999 this was done for free, (only for a week, aftwards there was a charge for this function, please verify this). You send your updated disk to ERAS.   But some things which might be handy to keep if a program asks you to fax your documents  are contained below in the "Scramble Protocol" but times are changing and I suggest you check with ERAS if they still allow non ERAS participants to apply. There is also supposedly a cut off date wherein ERAS is free postmatch, but if you go over the deadline they set, they charge you for every program you apply to post match.
Again, it could be frustrating, take a bit of a breather by clicking here before going back to work.

1. Two phone lines, one for calling and one for faxing
2. Curriculum Vitae.
3. Letters of Recommendation preferably from US
professors/doctors first.
4. Medical School Transcipt
5. Diploma
6. Personal Statement
7. Dean's Letter if applicable
8. Universal Application for Residency if the
program asks for it
Lastly, if you still havent matched by scramble day, there is still one last chance to secure a slot. The Scramble is a day of phonecalls, faxes, and impromptu contract offers. But times are changing, with the advent of ERAS NRMP has provided scramble day to be only for those who have applied via that system and oftentimes for 1999 programs said they will not entertain non ERAS participants.
